Many businesses have realized the value of delivering applications via the Internet, and others are planning to make their applications available over the Web. A major factor in the success of any real-world web applications is performance – customers and users have come to demand that they receive information quickly. This presentation will focus on the process and technical issues related to performance monitoring and optimization for web applications. The focus will be on software processes and testing that should be implemented throughout the development cycle, in order to ensure that an application will perform as desired. The presentation will include demonstrations of performance monitoring and optimization techniques for a real web application. Audience participation is welcome, so please bring your questions and comments!
About the Speaker:
Anil Desai is a Technical Architect for QuickArrow, Inc., developer of a leading Professional Services Automation (PSA) application. He is responsible for the management and optimization of QuickArrow’s production server environment. Anil is the author of several technical books, including: "Windows 2000 Directory Services Administration Exam Guide" (Sybex), "Windows NT Network Management: Reducing Total Cost of Ownership" (New Riders Press), and "SQL Server 2000 Backup and Recovery" (Osborne / McGraw-Hill). He has made dozens of conference presentations at national events and is also a contributor to national magazines.
