Overview:
The average user (individual and corporate) wants security to be invisible. Corporations want to buy software without holes. So what's Software Process Improvement got to do with it? This presentation will examine the trials and tribulations of providing a safe computing environment to differing sizes of businesses and government. It will also highlight areas for additional software process improvement, without going to CMM level 5.

About the Speaker:
Mr. Owen is the CEO of Optimal Information Security Services, Inc., a consulting firm that specializes in assisting homes and small business to large business and government in their efforts to adequately protect their information without paying too much. Mr. Owen developed the information security programs for Mission Operations at Johnson Space Center and for the Texas Office of the Attorney General. He has provided consulting on policy to the University of Texas System and University of Houston. He has also performed security evaluations and penetration tests for several large businesses. Mr. Owen is a Certified Information Systems Security Professional, a former International President of the Information Systems Security Association, and the current chair of the Software Advisory Committee for University of Mary Hardin Baylor.
