Panel discussion: Using UI Feedback to Drive Development

Overview:
By creating a user interface mockup early in the design
process, one can obtain critical customer feedback early in the
development cycle. Three panelists will relate their
experience implementing the processes and tools to put control of
application development in the hands of the end-user.
About the Speakers:
Bjorn Aannestad is the Director of Product Management at Pointserve, Inc. He
has led UI-driven product management and design efforts for three
commercial software applications, including enterprise portals and
line-of-business applications, and has given talks on what works and
doesn't work based on that experience. Bjorn has been one of
the co-chairs of the Austin Product Management and Marketing Forum
since 2002.
Dr. Faulkner is a Program Manager at the Applied Research Laboratories, the University of Texas at Austin. She is currently managing projects for the Navy, Army, Air Force and UT. She has accrued extensive experience with software systems design, curriculum development, training, and fielding of systems for the military in the information warfare and modeling and simulation domains. She has completed Carnegie-Mellon Software Engineering Institute training in development process and software quality assessment techniques, and holds a Process Management certification for UT Austin. Her resarch interests include quantitative usability testing and human factors analysis.
Scott Bellware is a .NET software professional living and working in Central Texas. He works primarily with C# focusing on object-oriented business applications, object-relational mapping and persistence, Test-Driven Development, and agile methodologies. He has been awarded MVP for C# in 2004, 2005, and 2006. Scott is the founder and leader of the AgileATX community of agile software practitioners in Austin. He founded the Austin .NET User Group in 2001, and served as chairman of the International .NET Association's Speaker Committee between 2003 and 2005. Scott teaches Test-Driven Development to .NET developers through a series of workshops presented in conjunction with .NET User Groups in the US and Canada.
